As we approach another spring season I find myself looking back over the past years events. It seems like just last week that I twisted balloons in a local Tesco's and I get a call from a lady who saw me there. We are both surprised that its nearly a year ago.
Last year we were blessed with some wonderful summer days but that's not always the case here in the UK. When I turn up to an event and its raining I always try to make the very best balloons that I can make, it seems fair that the three children who braved the rain to attend the fete should get amazing balloons. This usually has two side effects, firstly the parents are happy to hang around longer at the event and secondly they tend to text friends with photos and those friends come out too.
Its not about numbers, its about giving people that summers day feeling what ever the weather, its spending time with a person and creating something for them, its inspiring kids and adults to explore their creativity.
My job is so much more than balloon twisting, its about making peoples day, both visitors and the people booking me. I may make balloons but I create memories and smiles too.
Looking forward to this years season, I wonder who I will meet. I look forward to meeting an increasing amount of people who attend events just because I am there. To see the children grow up is a privelidge, I love it when children remind me where they have seen me work and what I made for them.
If your reading this and are one of the families who come and see me at events, watch out for this years carnivals and fetes, watch out for the return of the secret code. A game I play by posting a secret code on my Facebook page on the morning of an event. Anyone whispering ( not shouting out) the code will get a prize.
